Online Blackjack
About the game
Do you think you probably know the rules of online blackjack, but aren't quite sure? Perhaps you don’t remember what a particular rule says. If you’re ready to get back into blackjack but need a quick refresher on all the terms, here’s a quick online blackjack primer:
Hit: Hit means to take a card. You start with two cards in blackjack and are trying to get to 21. Since your first two cards may not be that close to 21, you’ll need to hit to get more.
Bust: This is what happens if you take too many cards. If you go over 21, you lose the hand and your bet.
Stand: This is how you prevent busting, by declining to take any more cards. However, if the dealer is closer to 21 than you are, you will lose.
Double: Put up an additional wager equal to your first and get a single hit. You’ll do this if your two card hand is one that will be very strong if a ten point card comes. You'll also choose this route if the dealer’s up card is very weak like a 4, 5 or 6, and a hit won’t bust you.
Split: If your two cards have the same value, you can split them and get two bets in play with the split cards becoming part of two new hands. Do this if you have a weak hand that can become two strong hands with a split, like AA or 88. You should also split if the dealer has a weak up card and your hand is too big to double, like 77 vs. a dealer 5.
Blackjack: If you are dealt an ace and a ten point card, congratulations, you have blackjack and win 3-2. That is, unless the dealer also has blackjack, in which case no one wins.
Insurance: If the dealer is showing an ace and you think he has a ten underneath, you can take insurance for an extra half bet. If you’re right, you don’t lose any money, or you win even money if you have blackjack yourself. If you’re wrong, you lose that half bet.
